Summer tires?

Ungelesener Beitrag von Kristian Kristof »

Hi Everyone,
A question about buying the possible best all around summer tires for the Plus....for every day street use :-)
I was shopping for Dunlop Sport SP 2000 in the size 255/40/ZR17 and tumbled across a very good offer on Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in the mentioned size.
I gathered some info from various revues and it looks like the Goodyears are one of the best in wet conditions and marked a good average on dry roads, oh yes and scored well above Bridgestone...?
Does anyone have experience with these tires on the Plus?
I don't want to pass a good buy, but again would hate to save in the wrong way, specially since we talk about the shoes of a Plus.
Cheers, kk (Plus No.130)

i used many tire on the plus.
and for me there is one winner.. bridgestone potenza pp so3
super tire in wet and dry conditions. stiff wall, and loads of grip
it is if your car drives on rails.

Hi together,
my decision yesterday, was the pirelli zero nero, based on several tests.
the major criteria for me is handling in wet/dry conditions.

as annex is a small file with the an average of test results of several tests.

ok - definitely the widest look have bridgestones :-)

beside my file, i´ve the ams test results pdf.

br, rainer

Check out this chart on Max Performance Summer Tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyres ... sp?type=MP

I heard from expert sources that the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position is a very good tire, specially for the circuit, but it has high abrasion and wont last as long, due to its softer and grippier compound.

Also there is an everyday fact of ride comfort, meaning high noise is something to consider when this is the only car you drive... :-)

Nobody experienced the Eagle F1 GS-D3 on a Plus or at least on a Quattro?

I had the Pilot Sport before, quite loud, not very confortable and when the tyre is more or less used up it is quite dangerous when the road is wet.

Now I have the S-03 and I am very satisfied.

the potenza lasts ± 35000 km with "normal" driving
due to the stickie-er compoud it glues to the road... so you can take the full advantage of the 4 wheel drive of our car. due to the stiff sides, it has less oversteer than all other tires i used (michelin pilot sport, pirelli, toyo proxes)

Hi All!
Thanks for posting in this subject and I appreciate your opinions :-)
I drove on Pirelli P Zero and P6000 in the past and just wanted to try something new. I know this is barely an objective reason not to consider Pirellis this time.... Ranier, how do you like your new PZero Nero's under your Plus?
Unfortunately the S-03 is a special order in Budapest and priced just over 300 Euro  This would be an attractive option considering the mentioned advantages of firm side walls with high grip rubber... David, 35.000 km "on rails" sound pretty good to me :-) I will have a second look around for a better quote.
The F1 GS-D3 is availiable from stock at 175 Euro...

+/- 150 Euro!!!
For the difference on 4 tires I could sponsor a trip to Holland and back even in the Plus :-)
I wonder if Hungary did join the EU at all.....?

This is to all you Bridgestone fans!
I walked down the Shinshaibashi street this evening (Osaka's Champs Elysees) and saw a big Bridgestone building with a presentation window featuring a new high performance tire: Potenza RE-01R
No idea what this is, but wanted to post it just in case this turns out to be the new hot wheel of this brand :-)

That tire looks like a sport-tire, nothing for wet conditions, I think...

Made some research and YES Marc that is correct!
The RE-01R is a street legal (at least in Japan) racing tire for dry conditions only and is primary designed for track users.

Perhaps a new alternative for us "street users" would be the new 050!

Since the urge for a new set of weels couldn't wait any longer, I opted for the GoodYear's and have them under my Plus for 3 weeks now.Very silent compared to the Pirelli's I had before (P-Zero & P-6000), but I yet have to test it under more "challenging conditions" :-)
