What type of coolant (have to replace thermostat)?

Ungelesener Beitrag von René Hazejager »

Hi collegues,

As it takes 12,5 kms before my water temp is 90C, I have to replace the thermostat. I will lose coolant, unvermeidlich!

What is the correct type of coolant?
Audi says: G 011 V8 C or spec. TL-VW 774 C

I cannot find this on my Halfords 5ltr coolant bottle. Maybe it is not the correct liquid?!

Thanks!
René.

Take G12+...G11 is an old coolant, that could damage your engine about the years...

Sebastian,

You are right, but I have to flush the system. Need compressed air to push out all of the G11. Add with distilled water and drain again the system. You cannot mix this with the new G12. It's a lot of work...

Are you using G12?

Thanks.
René.

No René, their is a diffrence between G12 and G12+.

You are right, if you mix G11 and the normal G12, you will damage your engine. That's the reason, why they have developed G12+, that fluid has no problems and no chemical reaktion with G11...

Thermostat replaced

Ungelesener Beitrag von René Hazejager »

Hi zusammen,

We just replaced the water thermostat (87C device). 2 hrs work. See picture.

Questions:

1. only 5 ltr coolant came out the system, how do I get the remaining coolant out of the system
2. I filled up with 5 ltr demineralised water in order to flush (will drive <100km and a few days), is this OK?
3. After refill my waterpump(?) was noisy, however it went away. Maybe it has been pumping air. Something wrong here?

I will drain the system and fill it up with G12+ on Thursday.

Thanks and take care.

René.
P.S. My brakes are magnificent!

Thermostat OK!

Hi Zusammen,

I checked the water thermostat, and indeed my car is within 3,0 km at 90C.
I flushed the system with compressed air and refilled it with G12+

I think my Plussi is OK now, with new hydraulic and brake fluid.

MFG,

René.
