Racing in Switzerland?

Ungelesener Beitrag von Anders »

Hi,

I heard on TV that automobile racing is prohibited in Switzerland? True?

If so, why?

Can you define it a bit better, what is considered "racing"? Does it mean that you cannot build a racetrack in Switzerland? Or are there already racetracks but there is a law against running on them nowdays?

What happens if you and a friend take your Porsches/Ferraris or whatever and drive really really fast on public roads? Is it not some kind of "racing"?
Will you get another type of punishment besides speeding tickets?

Yes, it's true! I don`t no way, but it's not allowed to drive on a circut-racetrack. They have some events, with mountain-races, something like pikes-peak in small, but no more...

It´s really hard to drive to fast in switzerlnad, because the police can get extremly angry and you have to pay very high tickets, or you are even going to prisson! If you want to be save, don't go faster, than 10km/h above the limit.

Last year, in Switserland I drove 21km/h too fast (101 instead of 80  ) on a completely empty highway (near the Arisdorf tunnel, be careful there), it was 11pm in the evening. The Swiss decided to take a photo of my car for speeding. And I had to pay about 260 Swiss Francs (170 euro) :?

This year you would pay in this situation more than EUR 500, they have new laws about that...

Race Circuits forbidden in CH

Ungelesener Beitrag von Ben Maglia »

Hello Guys
That's all true what you are writing.
50 years ago we had also formula 1 races in Switzerland. Then at the grand prix of Berne happens a bad accident with some dead spectators.
From this time it was forbidden to make races on a round course.
Today are plans, the build a new race track in the middle of Switzerland. This law is more than 50 years old and today the race tracks are much more secure.
Best regards to all

Ben, that is very good news.
I really hope they decide to build one again.

Safety today is a completely different matter from what it used to be 50 years ago, definately.

Got my picture taken exactly in the same place two weeks ago (in the tunnel itself) :x drove at about 100 km/h instead of 80.
I was actually surpised to see that many fixed radar boxes now in Switzerland. I remember that in the past I always drove at around 140-150 there (even at higher speed last year with a Swiss Corvette :P ), now I duly comply with the official 120.

Got the letter from the Swiss Police last week: picture taken at 111 km/h, minus 6 km/h = 106 km/h, limit at 80; that is going to cost 160 euro !!! that is three times more than in Germany for instance - everything is more expensive in Switzerland ! :( :(

I will check the details on the "price" but never exceed 40 km/h above limit, this drives into a criminal offence (and not just "Bussgeld"). And police is very very present at the moment on the roads, they have to make money !

Should we drive year for year correctly and anyone drive true with 40 KmH more than ?
The new Circuit was an idea from a Club of F 1 Fans and Millionärs.
Still the idea sid in his order and waits, abouts coming soon...
Must be cleared from state called "Kantonsrat" , later, if Kant. "" have him
given , "Bundesrat" is interessed with them ,(should) .
Possible i`m a old man ,I`m 40, or never i see a Formula Race in Switzerland.
